Taiaroa left Port Chalmers on Sunday, tbe 25th, at 10.40 a.m. She reached Akaroa Heads at 1 a.m. yesterday having made the unprecedented short run of 14 hours, owing to the S.E. gale she brought up with her. She came opposite the wharf at 1.25, but the wind blowing at its hardest, Bhe experienced some difficulty in coming alongside. She, however, lot go one anchor, and dropped down stern first. She was heavily laden, having on board 316 toriß cargo. She discharged here over 20 tons, but the Captain refused to take any outward cargo aboard, other than luggage, she being already up to her Plirnsoll mark. She left again for Lyttelton at 6.30 a.m. The charter of the barque Dumfriesshire has been taken over by the New Zealand Shipping Company She commenced loading at Lyttelton for Homo yesterday. The Palak is doing excellent work putting out her cargo, and will be ready to take in grain to-morrow. The barque Stracathro, having finished loading, towed out into the stream, Lyttelton, on Friday, ready for sea. She had a full cargo of wheat, and Mt for London or. Saturday. The following were her passengers :—Rev. J. and Mrs Jones, Miss Stack, Mrs Currie, Muster Elman. The Buttermere waß a full Bhip last week, and will leave for London either to-day or to-morrow. Tlie ship Nebo will be loaded about Wednesday. The Margaret, ketch, 21 tona, Rutter, sailed for Lyttelton irum Little Akaloa with a cargo of firewood on the 23rd instant.
