RAILWAY COMMISSION.

The following telegrams have been received from W: Montgomery, Esq., M.H.R., and the Railway Commissioners, Christchurch, and have been kindly forwarded to us for the benefit of our readers, by J. D. Garwood, Esq,, Chairman of the Deputation to Railway Commissioners:— "Christchurch, April 23". '•J. D. Garwood. Esq., Railway Commission will go round to Akaroa by special coach on Tuesday, returning on Wednesday by Pigeon' Bay. Would you wish to give them evidence at County Council Offices ? " W. Montgomery." " Christchurch, April 25. " His Worship the Mayor, Akaroa, —The Royal Commission on Railways will visit Akaroa ou Tuesday next, and will be prepared to receive a deputation respecting the Akaroa Railway at 8 p.m. " Edwap.d Downey, " Secretary." ■Mr Garwood has also shown us a letter from W, Montgomery, Esq., dated the 23rd of April, in which" ho says he has been requested by E. G. Wright, Esq., to engage a special coach for the Commissioners to bring them here to-day for them to return to-morrow, but that he will accompany them and wll endeavor to persuade them to prolong their stay until they shall have heard all the evidence. More particulars would most likely have been received.had it not ; ( ave been for the untoward accident to the telegraph wire. All thanks are due to Messrs Montgomery and Garwood for the great interest they havo taken in the matter, and for the energy displayed by them both in collecting evidence and arranging for the reception of the same.
