ST. PETER'S AKAROA.

The annual meeting in connection with the above Church was held on Thursday evening last, April 1. The liev H. Stacker, Incumbent, occupied the chair, the meeting being opened with prayer. In opening the proceedings the Incumbent thanked the Vestry for their attend; nnce to their duties, and was glad that they had been able to work together cordially. The Sunday School had improved under Mr S. Watkins, the superintendent, and the teachers appeared to be doing their duty. The choir had improved under the direction of Mr Wood. Improvements suggested by Mr J. Aylmer had been effected at the cemetery, and the late working party there had been a success. Mr Penlington then read a statement of accounts, which showed—Debit, £240 18s 3d ; credit, £261 17s 4d ; leaving a balance in hand of £20 19s Id ; that though some old accounts had been paid, there still remain liabilities to the amount of £120.

A motion was read that the accounts as read be adopted. This was carried after some discussion on Mr Mountfort's account, it being asserted that Mr Mountfort's plai| for the Parsonage was adopted only on the ground that the Rev. W. H. Cooper should pay for it. Mr S. Watkins read the Sunday School report, which showed that there were 16 teachers and 119 children on the roll, the average attendance for the quarter being 84 ; for the month 90. Of this number,

100 children attend the main school,' and 19 attend a class held by Mrs Tosswill at her house. Votes of thanks were passed to the late Vestry, the Lay Reader, the teachers, the organist, and choir.

The meeting then proceeded to appoint the Vestry. The Incumbent nominated as his warden Mr A. Westenra, and Mr H. H. Fenton was appointed Parishioners' warden. The following gentlemen were elected as Vestrymen ; —Messrs Penlington, Meech, W. Curry, J. Aylmer, Saxton, Mullins, and S. Watkins.

The meeting terminated with a vote of thanks to the Chairman.
