LITTLE RIVER RACES.

To the Editor of the Aharoa Mail,

Sib, —I notice a letter in this morning's issue, relative to the late Little Eiver Race Meeting, and signed J. H. Wallace. As President of the Peninsula Jockey Club, I hope you will kindly allow me a small space in your paper. In the firet place, I beg to state, for the information of the public, that the stewards belonging to the Peninsula Jockey Club, are gentlemen who have no feeling whether Jack, Bill, Tom, or Harry wins a race of any kind ; and are men of honour, which neither blacksmith, carpenter, tailor, or tinkercan deny. I give you the names of the gentlemen, or the stewards, belonging to the Little Biver Races, namely, Messrs S. Lee, William Bird ling. H. D. Buchanan, A. G. Wiggins, Charles Haylock, J. Gebbie, W. A. Gebbie, E. Hay, J. Judge, W. Coop, and F. Birdling. Now, sir, I. beg to state, for the information of the public, that the evidence the said stewards bad to decide, there was more evidence to state that Mr Grant's mare did run outside the post, than there was to prove that the mare did not run outside the post; and as no gentleman or rider of any horse came forward to state which horse did run outside the poet, the stewards gave their decision according to the evidence before them, and I must maintain their decision was a correct one. I am, &c,

B. SHADBOLT.
