A few days ago the Fine Arts Minister visited the Hotel dcs Invalides to arrange as to the execution of certain wall-paint-ings. The old pensioners were drawn up to receive him ; those wanting an eye, an arm, or a leg, were placed in separate classes. This hit at the Minister's plan of "sympathetic groups" for paintings at the forthcoming exhibition amused him much.
