At the wool sales to-day 8400 bales were offered, making a total of 125,699 bales catalogued since the opening. The market to-day was firm, and there was active demand for . all descriptions. Prices have further advanced -i_d to Id all round. Three per cent. Consols unchanged, 97| ; 5 per cent. New Zealand loan, 102 ; 4|- per cent. New Zealand loan, 96£. Adelaide wheat has declined Is, and is now quoted at 09s per 496 lbs, ex warehouse. (FROM THE LYTTELTON TIMES.) London, March 1. The ship Strathnairn, from London to Adelaide, collided in.the Channel, and immediately after sank. The whole of the crew of the ill-fated vessel were drowned. At the wool sales to-day 9200 bales were catalogued. The prices were firmly maintained. The series closes ?on March 12. [Age Special.] Bombay, March 1. The steamship Vinzora has foundered off the coast near this port. The captain, chief officer, engineers, and 100 of the native crew were drowned.
