AKAROA RAILWAY.
To the Editor of the Akaroa Mail. Sir, — The deputation who recently waited upon the Hon. Minister for Public Works were given to understand by that gentleman that a commission of enquiry had been appointed to investigate and report upon the contemplated Colonial lines of railway, with a view of showing the necessity for, and those which were likely to be remunerative. As the extension of the line from Little Eiver to Akaroa Harbor is one of them, we should be prepared to show those gentlemen, by statistics, the growing necessity for the line in question. The Assembly will probably meet in May. Should the Commissioners visit us before then, there is little enough time to get together the information required to do it justice. If the deputation is to be appointed by the public it would be better to do so at once, and not leave it until the last moment. Those appointed would then have an opportunity of meeting and discussing the question thoroughly. Yours, &c, BRAMBLE.
