A very old settler, Mr Gr. L. Harapelman, lias joined the majority His death, which was very sudden, took place on Friday, and he was committed to his. last resting place yesterday. A. meeting of the Head of the Bay Racing and Sports Committee was held at Brooks' Somerset Hotel, on Thursday evening last. Mr B. Shadbolt, the President of the club occupied the chair, and most of the members of Committe were present. The accounts of the present and late secretaries Messrs George Sadler and B. Barker were laid before the meeting, duly audited, and were adopted. The Committee after meeting every claim against them liberally, have been able to carry a small balance forward to the next year's account. Altogether the Committee maybe congratulated not only on the success of the two days sport they supplied to the public, but on the excellent issue to which they have brought their business. An old Akaroa resident, but at present located in Christchurch, sends the following :—" ' Ourselves as others see us.'—l was showing one of your Akaroa boys the' Lions' we have here (the Cathedral City) at present on exhibition the other evening, and when crossing the square immediately in front of the entrance to the nave of the cathedral, he remarked very naively, but quite innocently — ' Hallo ! are they pulling that old building down.' Of course I had to enter into an explanation."
We understand that owing to the resignation of the Rev Mr Dunkerly, Incumbent of Lincoln, the charge has been offered to the Rev. 11. Stockcr, of St. Peter's, Akaroa.
