THISTLES.

To the Editor of the Aharoa Mail. Sin, —I am not aware whether there is a Thistle Act in force in this colony at present or not, but I am quite sure that it is high time that such an Act did exist. During the extreme heat of Sunday last, I traced my steps towards the Domain, and laid.myself down in a cool, shady spot, and after a while fell asleep, and enjoyed "Nature's sweet repose." Eventually, I " cast oil dull sloth," and awoke with the idea (bar the heat) that I was overtaken by a snowstorm. The atmosphere was literally obliterated by " Scotchmen," and it took some minutes before I could realise that I was not a "gone coon." I was myself covered from head to foot with the seeds of thistles. If 1 had laid there long , enough I expect they would have germinated. As it is, lam happy to state, I escaped '• Scot " free. I think, Sir, that thcJ time has arrived when the "Thistle Nuisance" should be knocked in the head, or at least that reduced that it be no longer a public nuisance. 'Tis a wonder, Sir, that none of your pastoral and other interested correspondents have not written against the "Scotchmen " before, for I think that, when they become a nuisance to private individuals, they must be far more so to landed proprietors. I thir.k that it would not be a bad move, Sir, were you to set an example and cut the luxurious growth 'of thistles on the upper part of your office. lloping that you will agitate in the matter named above, and by that means put some chock upon the nuisance, you will oblige, Yoers, &c., AKAKOA.
