Mr Brassy read a paper before the Bradford Chamber of Commerce on the Colonial Empire. He commented on the value and great increase of their trade, and spoke of the Colonies as a splendid field for the laborer and small capitalists.. He condemned the remissness of England in not providing for the defence ol the Colonies. Coaling stations were urgently required, also dock accommodation. He eulogised the recent action of Victoria in providing for her defence, and advocated a Federal' Council for England and the Colonies.
