o FROM THE LYTTELTON TIMES. Christchurch, Friday Evening. GRAIN AND PRODUCE. The weather during the week has been rather changeable, although on the whole it has been favourable for harvesting, and for the standing crops. The market has been very quiet, and transactions have been on a most limited scale. Business has been somewhat interrupted by the holidays, but things will now run in the ordinary groove. Wheat.—Not much has been done beyond a few trifling lots sold to millers at 4s 9d to ss. Chick wheat is in good demand. Oats are being pressed on the market, but buyers are not eager purchasers in iv the view of the new season's coming bo shortly into the market. Quotations are not so strong —feed, Is 8d to Is lid ; milling, 2s Id. Barley.—Nothing has passed under notice in barley, but samples of the new crop will very soon be offering. Flour has had a fair trade demand at £13. Grass Seed.—■ Some sales of this season's for early delivery have been made during the week at 2s 9d to 3s. Cocksfoot has also had a little attention, 3£d to 4i for early seed being generally accepted as the rates likely to rule. Dairy Produce. —Butter is coming forward in quantity, and rates are*6p to 7d ; cheese, s£d to 6d. Hams and bacon are not over plentiful, and are quoted at lOd.
