STOCK AND STATIONS.
In consequence of the usual weekly sale being held on Monday, instead of Wednesday, there was but little stock brought forward, and even with the short supply there was no demand, the whole sale being one of the dullest ever held in Addingtou. Sheep.—Fat sheep we quote for the few sold at l|d to l£d per lb. Fat lambs, from 4s 6d to 10s 6d, the latter price being obtained for some very superior Down lambs.
Beef. —We quote another fall in values ; best making about 22s ; medium, 20s.
Store Sheep in fair demand, as are also cattle in iorward condition.
Mr T. Preece reports on the Christinas sale, held at his suleyards, Lichfield street, as follows :—Cattle—There was a better enquiry for dairy cows than has been of late, and Bevcral milch cows were sold at satisfactory prices, and there was also a considerable improvement in the value of calves. Pigs—The supply was not equal to the demand, and prices for small pigs and porkers are equal to former rates. Poultry—-A very large quantity was disposed of at good rates, viz., cock turkeys, 20s to 26s per pair; hens do, 15s to 20s per pair; geese, full grown 10s to[l4s perjpair; do half grown, 7s to 9s 6d per pair ; ducks, good quality, 6s to 7s per pair , inferior do, 5s to 5a 9d per pair ; fowls, fit for table, 4s to 4s 6d per pa:r ; inferior, 3* to 3s 9d per pair. Produce—Early potatoes, |d to fd per ft, by the sack; old potatoes are now almost unsaleable at any price. Chick wheat, 3s lOd to 4s per bushel.
