Government are completing arrangements for occupying the Waimate plains andamovewill.be made shortly after, the new year. A force numbering nearly 1000 will cross the Waingongoro river and commence road-making towards Parihaka. If any resistance is made, they will fight. Until hostilities actually commence, the men will simply be employed rapidily pnshing forward roadmaking, but the moment the Natives show opposition most desive action will be taken. Colonel Koberts, A.C, takes the military command. Government are determined to deal decisively once and for all with the Native difficulty.
