AN EXPLANATION.
To the Editor of the ATcaroa Mail.
Sir, —Mr Stephen Watkins seems to take a most extreme view- ofiny simple elusion in your issue of .a week ago. - He stigmatises my conduct as " cowardly" because I adopt a norn di'pVume. If Mr Watkins lias not done so himself before now, he is certainly an exception. ~ My contention is that if a real grievance exists; it dbek n*ot matter by whom the complaint; is made public. , ,
I do not desire to go over the old ground again, but would merely remark,' in conclusion, that ,1 cannot imagine 'where/Mr Watkins gets the idea that I charge'the master with " incompetency." ! I am , certain that my letter will bear no such construction. On the contrary, I believe! Mr Nicholls to be thoroughly capably, but J. still maintain that the younger ohjlcjren derive very little benefit from his capability. ' Yoursj &c.,;'•''
