" ' Early sown vegetable crops ijvill _now\be advancing rapid]} , , and will require \ close attention as to hoeing, landing up and staking. Any of tho main crops of vegetables not yet put in should, be attended'to at once. Finish planting potatoes. J\lake' sowings'of french beans, nasturtiums, and tomatoes ; sow cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, savoys, and curled greens on rich well-prepared ground, to induce rapid growth, which is the best preventive of blight on those crops. Finish sowing carrots, taking care to cover the seeds properly, otherwise, owing to the dryness of the ground at this season tho best'Beeds • may not grow. Every effort must now be made to keep weeds in check by means of the hoe, which should be used during the bright sunshine, for if weeds are allowed to choke young crops and left to shed their seeds, it will take years to eradicate them. ,;•'-'■: i ; •; Fruit Garden. In dry and exposqd gardens all, newly planted trees will be benefited by a mulching of stable manure placed over their roots, to extend about three feet from the stems of the trees. See that shelter from the prevailing winds is provided. Attend to the disbudding of peach and apricot trees, removing a few-at ta. time, .so as to prevent a too sudden check to the growth of the trees. Thin the fruit of peaches and apricots to Ojt >leastt inches apart. This, to many,' will 'appieaV a -great sacrifice, but if carried out-will certainly ; benefit the trees and ensure the growth of large well-flavored fruit. Pansies, pinks and carnations ] should have the soil stirred ' frequently about them, and water occasionally wfth weak manure water. Keep beds "and borders as neat and clean as possible.'
