MATTERS POLITICAL.

lb the Editor of the Akaroa.Mail.

S lß) —Being one of those who signed a requisition calling the meeting last night, I wish to make a few remarks. lam a supporter of Mr Montgomery, and in signing my name to that requisition I did not; think for one moment it was calling in question our member's past actions. The meeting, if it can be called such, for 1 never was at a gathering reflecting sor much disgrace on those taking part as last night, in fact, it was a perfect pandemonium, and as a supporter of Mr Mont-| gomery, I am heartily ashamed of the' manner in which that meeting was con- f ducted. It appears a mountain has been; made of a mole hill, telegrams being sent; to our member informing him of a plot to; unseat him ; the launch chartered to bring; his snpporters here. Such twaddle.. The fact is, this meeting was; called ,by Mr; Montgomery's supporters, and it was nothing more than his supporters disagreeing; among themselves whether it was advisable to advise their member as to their; opinions. When lo 1 an amendment is, proposed that we have every confidence, &c., &c. What-had" the resolution-?, -An <ame/wlnjent,]l takej it must"be I _ was jnin voj*}>£jhe, 41m and„resolution too. I also think ifj—jtlja -atriend•Vri'ebf were'added - to IfieLinotion; -making one resolution, that. it have; -been the-mind of those! present;. : jwere very jfew in the ball but ■who.rhaV'e every confidence in our member,'and it was!the unseemly interruption to which i e|very speaker was subjected .(for it "matte littleHvho it was) that' prevented a cjilm and reasonable discussion taking place on so important a 'subject.—Yours,,&c, j | --■ ELECTOR.
