' is hereby given, in terms I_N of sec. 40 of "The Rating Act, 1876," that the Akaroa and Wainui Road Board, at the MEETING to be held on SATURDAY; the 11th day of October, proximo, intend to make a rate of NINEPENCE in the £ on all Rateable property in the said Road District, for the period ending the 31st day of March, 1880, and that the said rate will become payable on the Ist day of November, 1879. And further, that the *Rate Book is Now Open for Inspection, as required by the said Act, at the office of the Road Board, Duvauchelle's Bay. Section 42 of " The Rating Act, 1876 " runs on.as follows — •* Any ratepayer may appeal to the local body against the rate book on any of the following grounds— (1.) That any person is rated in the rate-book on property not appearing in the valuation roll for the time being in force, or for a different value than that stated in such roll. (2.) That any person or property, appearing by the valuation roll to be iiable to be rated, is omitted in the rate-book. (3.) That the description of any person or property is erroneously copied from the valuation roll. (4.) That the rate on any rateable property is incorrectly computed." JOHN BARWICK, Clerk to Board. Webb, Esq., at Riccarton. He is a rich dark brown, standing 16 hands high, with immense bone and substance, and for make and shape has been pronounced by the best judges as hard to be beat anywhere. Young Traducer is rising five years. Teems: £5 5s per mare, payable January 1, 1880. Groomage fees, ss, payable on first service.
