A DIALOGUE IN A PRINTING OFFICE.

The foreman of the office asks, " Jones, what are you at now ?" The compositor replies, " I am setting a house on fire ;" " What is Smith about ?" and the answer is, "he is engaged in a horrid murder." Whereupon the foreman replies, " Finish it as quickly as possible." His next question is, " Bob, what are you trying to get up?" to which Bob replies," "A panic in the money market." Next the foreman asks Thomas what he is distributing ; to which Thomas replies, " Prizes in the gift lottery." " Stop that," says the foreman, " and take hold of a runaway horse." The compositors questions to the foreman are equally amusing. "How about those municipal candidates, says one." -'Run 'em on," is the reply. " Shall I lead these men of Britain?" asks another. " No, they are solid, of course." " Did you want a full-faced head to Jenny Land's family?" " No, put 'em in small caps." Another compositor asks the editor for more copy. He asks, "Have you.completed that eloquent thanksgiving discourse?" to which the answer is, " Yes, and I have set up a warm winter."
