CLOSING OF ROADS.
To the Editor of the Akaroa Mail.
Sir, —I am pleased to see that someone has replied to " Elector," who endeavors to hinder the County Council to deal with the sale of useless ' roads. lam almost a stranger to the County Council, while I am not a stranger to the fact that there exists a number of useless roads that would be better included in sections than remaic as they are at present. Surely "Elector" must be a new chum or quite ignorant of the fact that many of these roads which were laid off during Mr Towsend's time have been rendered useless since Mr Fenton has laid off many new roads at certain grades, and in a great many cases it would be ill paid compensation to some landowners if the old roads were handed over to them, since the grading of new roads' have done considerable damage to many properties where the roads have passed through. Yours, &c., PROGRESS.
