The usual meeting cf this Board ivas held on Monday, Sept. 1. Present —Messrs Parkinson (ChairmEwi),' Gebbie, Coop, and Forbes. ! Letters were received as follows :-r- j From the, Colonial; Secretary, in Ireply, relative to the mortality amongst the Native population at Little Riven j From Mr George.R. Jablin r -in-r-eference to diversion of road in Western Valley. From the Chief Surveyor, in reply, relative to re-pegging of road lines. From Messrs Keenan, and Fittan, eiK closing copy of letter Bent by them to Mr William White re proposed .road through a section the property of that gentlemaii in_ Little River bush, and asking that the | road laid laid off might be cleared.to'their sections. .From Messrs Snow and Anson, asking' the Board to re-consider their decision with regard to clearing slips'from the Peraki bridle road. . -. -- - -,- ' From Mr George Lamb, offering to clear the bush and form the proposed road diversion in Western Valley. ' From Mr M. Wheeler, requesting some assistance in obtaining access to his land in Gebbie's Valley. ; ; From Mr E. Hall, about road metal supplied by him on Gebbie's saddle, Lyttelton road. From Messrs Sigley and Dixon, asking; for the use of the cottage near Stoney Point ; also,, for permission to ■ enter Mr Morton's land from the road, in the event of their concluding terms with that gentleman for obtaining stone from his land at Ahuriri. . , . ... A petition was received from 21 residents at Tai Tapu, requesting that about one and a half miles of the Lower Tai Tapu road be shingled. A petition was received from 13 residents at Tai Tapu, requesting the Board to form the crossroads in the Hepworth township. A copy of. resolution agreed to by the Halswell Road Board was received through iMr Brake, in which that Board offered to pay half cost of constructing a branch drain from the main Tai Ttpu drain to the Halswell river. Mr G. Johnson requesting permission to commence work at tbe Okute valley end of the road, about to be opened out from Barry's saddle to the valley. Permission was granted. Mr Brake to be informed that since former correspondence on the subject, this Board had,caused the drain to be widened and deepened in places, thereby obviating the necessity of further action in the matter j as far as this district is concerned. ! That of Mr Richard Berryman for sections No. 1 and 2, a distance of about nine and a half miles ; and that of Mr John Archer, for sections No. 4 and 5, about eleven miles, were accepted. No. 3 section was not let. Sundry accounts were passed for payment, and the Board adjourned. _
