CORN EXCHANGE REPORT.
The following is the report of the Corn Exchange for the week ending Friday evening, July 25 :— Wheat.—First-clais milling is saleable at 48 per bushel, good to medium 3s 8d to 3s lOd, chick wheat 3s to 3s 4d. Oats.— There is no alteration to note in values during the week, the local demand continues brisk, and small parcels are moving off freely at 2s 6d to 2s 7d for good feed samples. Milling qualities are not so much sought after, for these latter 2s 8d to 2b fldls the utmost that can be obtained. Barley—The Bame remarks which were made last week apply to this. First-class malting samples are extremely; .scarce " while average qualities are in fair supply. 3?dr the former 5s 9d to 6s is readily obtainable, while the latter varies so much in qualtiy that the price must be quoted as ranging from 3s 6d to 5s 6d-; feed sorts, •2s 6d to 3s. Potatoes— The demand continues brisk, and orders are coming in more freely from •the intercolonial ports. In the early part of the week the demand flagged, and prices consequently receded. The latter part of tlie week has brought in more orders, and prices stand at last week's .quotation—£3 10s at country" stations ; bags, 6e 6d. Cheese and Butter—The demand for the former is very limited, prices remaining as before, 6d to 6£d. For the latter the supply is in excess of the demand, and sales are difficultto effect at even unreinunerative rates to the producer. The glut in this market appears to have been caused by the unusually mild weather which has prevailed during the winter. Sales have been made during the week at 7dand 8d per lb ; kegs, as usual, 5s each.
