The debate on the address was continned by Mr Maofarlane, who stated that the Premier had promised to save £100,000 in expenses, and failed to do so. ■ The Native Department bad, he stated, been corrupted under the {present Native Minister, and he was regarded as the prince of broken promises. Mr Carrington, Mr M'Minn, and Mr Tole each aired their particular notions on the Government policy. Mr Barton, in supporting the Government, dragged in his old grievances in reference to the judges, and defended- the Native Minister. The Native members Tamoaha and Tainui supported generally the action of the Government in Native affairs. The debate was, on the motion of Mr Henry, after, the ruling, of the Speaker as to several points of order, adjourned till this evening, when the division will be taken.
