THE proprietors of. this journal, recognizing the fact that stagnation means retrogression, and with a view, of meriting a still further amount of that support which has been so liberally bestowed on it, have determined on adding considerably; to the amount of literary matter furnished to their readers. On and after the I.7th JANUARY, 1879, The Akaroa Mail Will contain, ONCE A WEEK, a TWO-PAGE SUPPLEMENT, Consisting of an additional FOURTEEN COLUMNS Of entertaining matter, under the following' headings :— THE NOVELIST. Under this head will appear two well written TALES, one continuous, and the other complete. THE GATHERER, A series of interesting selections. AGRICULTURAL & PASTORAL, SCIENTIFIC, THE TRAVELLER, LADIES' COLUMN, POETRY, and , /J. •■■ • • Many of our,-subscribers aud friendshave complained that, outside local news, there was but little-interesting reading' matter in the columns of the Mail, and with the limited space at our disposal, this was to a great extent inevitable, By publishing a supplement, however, exclusively devoted to literary matter, we hope to make the Mail a first-class FAMILY NEWSPAPER.
