Christchurch, Thursday Evening.
The business in the grain market during the week has been simply a reflex of the preceding. The weather during the week has been very favorable for seeding purposes, and full advantage has been taken of it by the farmers in pushing forward operations. "Wheat. —We have few transactions to record in wheat during the week. All brought forward is readily taken up at 3s 10d for first-class.milling, other kinds varying from 3s 7d to 3s 9d. The demand for chicken west' still continues .unabated. * Oats.—Feed quality is quoted at 2s 4d to 2s 6d ; milliigg, 2s 7d. Barley.—Good samples are quoted at 5 s 6d to 6s; medium, 4s 9d to ss. - Potatoes have not altered since our last report Althongh more business has been done, the rates asked by growers stop anything being done beyond the filling ot actual orders. Values stand at 60s to 70s. Flour. —Transactions have been comparatively few, and confined to trade parcels. , .. , , Grass Seed.—There has been a slight enquiry for ryegrass, but so slight that the chances of improved rates in the face ot the lar*e quantity of seed held by the iariners, are remote. Good lots are dull ot eale, even at 4s 3d to 4s 6d. . Dairy Produce.—Butter is exceedingly quiet at 9d, the demand being nominal. Cheese, 6d to 6£d. Hams and bacon, in cloth, B£d.
