PIGEON BAY ROAD BOARD.

A meeting of the above Board was held at the Road Board Office, Pigeon Bay, on Saturday, June 7.. _; Present—Messrs Gillespie, Pitcaithly. Budua and Hay. •'„,„' \ The Chairman reported that Mr Stewart had withdrawn his tender for the road and breastwork to be constructed opposite Messrs Hay's residence, and that he had arranged -with Mr;J. Woodill, the next lowest ten-derer,*-to take the contract at the price tendered for (£487). Mr Woodill, being called in, accepted the contract, gave Mr T: 0. Hay's name as his surety for the due fulfilment of the same, and signed the specification. Proposed by Mr Budua, and seconded by Mr Hay— " That a deputation, to consist

lof all the members present be appointed' to decide where the Public Pound shall be erected." Carried. The following accounts ware presented and ordered to be paid:—From the executors of the late E. Hay, Fsq., purchase money, and fencing of Kay's Gully road passing through rural section 172, £472 7s 6d ; from Mr Fenton, C. E., on account **> for work done on Port Levy Jroad, including survey and men's wages, £72 ; total, £524 7s6d. The following letters were received and read :—From Messrs Joynt and Percival, " stating that Messrs Duncan and Cotterill, solicitors to the estate of the late E. Hay, Esq., were prepared to hand over the conveyance of Kay's Gully line of road passing through rural section 172, on receipt of the consideration money ; also stating that they believed the price to be £160 per acre for the land ; and £1 12s 6dper„ chain * for the fencing ; the former' measuring 2a lr 16p, and. the latter '47 chains. -.; ; From tho Chief Surveyor, stating that i he expected to visit Decanter Bay shortly, „- and that he would then inspect the ilne of . road laid out by Mr M'Nicol, and that originally laid out by Mr Cuthbert; after ! which he should be in a position to give . Mr M'Nicol final directions in tlie matter. ; From the Akaroa and Wainui Road > Board, requesting this Board to pay to the s, credit of their district fund account, .the * i sum of £281 5s .Od, being this Board's • share of the amount •of contract for form- • ing the Summit-road -from tho Old Pigeon Bay Finger Post to the'main- road -at ■* |J Barry's Pass. I The Clerk was directed to reply that this .Board would pay the amount on receiving a certificate from Mr Fenton that .' the work was satisfactorily completed in I accordance with the conditions named by , this Board, the Akaroa and Wainui Road Board having been duly advised of the , same.
