' From Mr Fenton. accepting the supejvvision of the Mount Bossu joad- extension, and slating "terms. ' t ' J and M'lntyre. enclosing account for surveying and plotting , new lines or road. , Fro:n Mr James Wright, of Island B\y, applying for road to hid homestead. From the Steward of reseiveb, with forms of appHcanon foi loate. From Mr Geo. Limb, in icference to his contract in Western valley. From Mr Olphcu, abking for some road metal to be placed in froi't of his hotel at L'tfic Kivv r. l> the contractors for tlie Mount Dovu tj3.il, asking for some money on account.
Mr Thos. King interviewed the board with die object of placiilgTjeTore-thauj the fact that the Ahuriri lagoon has overflowed his land and the sections adjoining. - Mr Win. Gilmour also attended, and stated that in consequence of Mr Henley having cut a drain from his land into the Tai Tapu main drain, hi.s (Mr Gilmour's) land was Hooded, and also that Mr Jas. Doyle had placed obstructions in the main drain, and askiwg the Board to take steps to prevent further annoyance. Mr Win. Greenland manager for Mr White at Little River, also applied for leave to construct a tramway bridge, to be built on the upper side of the new bridge on the main road at Ltttls River, the-old bridge having been carried away, the consequence being that the work at Mr White's sawmill would be suspended. - Mr Thos. M'Cariney attended to report that he had succeeded in letting out Lake Forsyth. . Mr M'Qartney was complimented by the Board-for his promptitude in responding to the request of: the Board to undertake the work and unremitting perseverance, having completed the job in three days and a half. It was resolved that he be presented with a gratuity lii addition to the usual pay. Inquiries haying made why the Board did not proceed '-with letting out ; Lake Eliesmere, Mr John Gebbie reported that he was. authorised by Mr P. M'Grnth, the contractor for the Akaroa railway to state that it is his intention fo commence letting out tlio lake with a strong gang of strongnion with scoops, .&e. on Thursday the 10th inst. ■ ' With reference to the Ahuriri lagoon, Mr King was informed that thejlJoafd are powerless in.tho matter, as the obstruction is beknv high vvater mark.
The Board determined to take steps to compel the owners of land abutting on the main drain to all obstructions to the flaw of water: """"^-^ NMr .Greenland was-informed that there would be no objection-to, the erection of i>a ; t£amway bridge,''providing- that it does :Dj>i|<jause arfy additional bar to the waterfifey/jand a,lso that Mr-White contribute '*tbw 4 ajrds some protective works at the eastern tspd. $\rbe informed that the Board havo so.many applications of the same nature, that they cannot at present comply with his requestio have' a road made to his house.
