PIGEON BAY ROAD BOARD.

A meeting of.the above Board'was held on Saturday, May 3. ';••■■•- ' • • Present—^Messrs , - Gillespie (Chairman), Buduai Pitcaithly, and M'Kay, • , Resolved—"That the jTotara 'Creek bridge be widened to, 18 feet, , the planking renewed, one new beam added, and the approaches filled up with Shingle."; A tender was opened from Messrs Coatsworth and Holloway, for widening the rocky portion of the , M'lntosh and Decanter. Bay road, 150 feet length, to a 12 feet-width, £6(3,; and to a'lo feet width £45. . : ' .;.;:.■ ■.;: ,■ Tlie Board resolved to accept Messrs Costsworth and Holloway's tender for the 12 feet width, provided they would reduce their terms to £50. , The following tenders for constructing' a road and sea-wall along the beach, in

front of Messrs Hay's residence, "were opened:— Messrs Pawson and Co., £1125; or if allowed to use rubble from the west end of the contract, £750. -'Mr John Woodill, £487. Mr Bobert Stewart, £375. Messrs Everall and Gunning, £500. Messrs Brough and Co., £691. Mr E. Prendergast, £187. Proposed by Mr Pitcaithly, and seconded by Mr Budua—" That Mr Stewart's tender be accepted, subject to such security for the due fulfilment of the contract, as the Board would consider satisfactory." The following accounts were ordered '< to be paid :— From Mr J. F. M'Cardell, for making up the map of the district, £4 10s. Mr W, Smith, 20 days' labor at 7s, £7. Messrs Austin and Kirk, for a supply of drain pipes, £11 17s. Total, £23 7s. ' Mr Budua, as a member of a deputation appointed to meet the 'Port Levy Road Board, and Messra Ward arid Pavitt, Surveyors, for conference re"the Port Levy ' and Pigeon Bay line of road, reported that Messrs -Ward and 4iad, ( str.uc y k pflE £20- irorri their entire accounti' that ;ac- '-j .counts had been squared with them," and the work taken off their hands". Also, that Mr Fenton: had been engaged to rersurvey r the line at £2 ! 2s per day, and that each IBoard was to superintend the work on its own side, from the Hill Top downwards. The Board then adjourned.
