LITTLE RIVER CONTRACTS.
To the Editor of the Akaroa Mail. Sir,—l should like to call the attention of the Little River Road Board or their Clerk to the way some of their contractors are carrying out the specifications in regard to the Western Valley, road. I believe all stumps Were to be grubbed up. Instead of that they are being cut oftxlose so the ground and arid wS all kpow what-soft-of road i; thajt will yjake, -..'ln a lew moii'ths' they will.riseirom.the dead, and all that are driving that way will find to their discomfort and inconvenience. In justice to unsuccessful teriderers,-and also to-the'ratepayers; I- think-it ,is<the duty of the BoafdoritheiriClerkL to works are carried out according to specifications. But it seems that contractors, are allowed to scamr the works in the most disgraceful w iv, ;. notice in your report of the County
Council meeting that the Clerk of the Little River Road Board finds fault with the specifications for the Mount Bossu road. I should like to ask that gentleman what is the good of specifications if he does not see that the work is carried out accordingly. Yours, &c_, GRUBUM.
