AKAROA RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
Tuesday, April 29. (Before Justin Aylmer, Esq., R.M., and His Worship the Mayor.) BREACH OF THE PUBLIC HOUSE ORDINANCE, Thos. Brooks was charged with keeping open house during Good Friday. Mr Brooks stated that on the day in question so many strangers were present that it was impossible for him to telJ who were travellers or otherwise. The Bench took this view of the case and dismissed the information with an admonition to the defendant to be more careful in future. CIVIL CASE. Wood Bros, and Go. v. O'Reilly.—Claim for £1 12e: Adjourned from last Court day. Judgment for plaintiff for amount claimed and costs.
