CORN EXCHANGE REPORT.
The following is the report of tße Corn Exchange for the week ending Friday, April 18 :— The weather has been favourable for threshing operations, and the bulk of the grain has been safely secured for the market. The result of the threshing machine returns show the average in many cases varying as low as four bushels of wheat to the acre, which is unparallelled in the history of grain growing in New Zealand. . Wheat. —The wheat market ia slightly weaker, but with several enquiries for chipping parcels. Best niillitig can only be quoted 3a 4cl to 3s 5d inferior to me*dium, 2slodto3s2d. Oats.' —There is no improvement to note. Prime milling, 2s 9d to 2s 10d ; feed, 2s 6dto2sßd. Barley.—Prime malting samples are still scarce, and any of that description coming to hand is eagerly bought up. For the first mentioned, 5a 6d to 6s is readily obtainable, while other qualities range from 3s 6d to sa, according to quality. Potatoes.—Quotations are the same as last week, £3 to £3 5s person. Grass Seed.—No demand exists, and as the season is now so far advanced, there is no prospect of any considerable enquiry till spring. Prices nominal. Cheese and Butter.—Last week's quotations are not altered. Cheese, 6d to 6£d ; butter, 10d to lid.
INTERPROVINCIAL COMMERCIAL TELEGRAMS. Wellington, April 18. Adelaide flour, £13 15s ; Canterbury; 1 £9 9s 9d ; Oamaru £9 10s; sharps, £5 10s; bran, 10d ; oats, 3s 3d to 3s 6d ; potatoen, £4 10s; maize, 4s 10d to 5s ; hams and bacon, 9d. Oamaru, April 18. There is no change to report. Wheat is at 3s 3d to 3s 4d: oats, Is lOd to 2s 2d ; flour, £8 16s to £9 ; other quotations as last week. v ■ Donedin, April 18. Fat cattle.--Prices obtained were about the same as last week, prime beef bringing up to 30s per IOQIbs, inferior do 23s to 265. Fat calves—These were sold at 18s to 37a 6d each, according to size and quality. Fat sheep—Prices showed a slight advance on last week's rates. Cross-bred ewes brought up to 12s 9d, or equal to 2-|d per lb. Wheat, 3a 6d to 3s 9d ; fowl feed, 2s 6d to 3s; oats, new, 2s 4d to 2s 6d ; old 2s 9d to 3s: barley, 5s 6d to 6s ; feed, 3s to 3s 6d ; potatoes, £4 to £4 ss; hay, new, £4 ; old, £6 ; chaff, £4 to £4 10s ; straw, £2 ; bran £4 ; flour, large sacks, £8 10s to £9 ; onions, 9s per cwt; cheese, 7d to 8d perlb ; bacon, 9|d,
