London, April 17. The latest Cape news is to April 1. The relieving forces started for Ekowe yesterday. They consisted of 6000 men, with Gatling gtms> and a rocket column. The troops are in good health. On. March 30 Colonel Pearson signalled from Ekowe that 2000 of the garrison had been disabled, and only 500 were then effective. It is stated that 35,000 Zulus await the arrival of the Ekowe. relieving force,: 200 Zulus attacked .Colonel , Wood's camp near Luneberg, where the fighting: lasted for four hours. The enemy were repulsed. The British loss was 1 officers and 70 men.
Lord Derby has seceded from the Conservative party. The wool auctions commence on May M 5. -- Arrivals to date are 250,000 bales. The total.. probably is 330,000.
