HANDICAP RACE, for district horses only; 1| mile. First horse, saddle and bridle, given by J. Gebbie, Esq., and J. Ferguson, Esq. Entrance, £1. 6. CONSOLATION RACE, | mile, for all beaten horses. First horse, £5 ; second, to s;<ve stakes. En trance, £1. In all events, three horses to start, or no race. Nominations for Port Victoria Handicap will close March Ist, at 8 p.m., and must be addressed to Secretary, Head of Bay, Lyttelton. Weights to be decided on March sth. Acceptances, March 10th. The district comprises Port Victoria Road District, Lyttelton, Purau, Gebbie's Valley, and Kaituna.
All horses to run in district races must be owned by bona fide residents of the district, and have been so for three months prior to race date. Canterbury Jockey Club Rules ad hered to. The decision of the stewards in all cases final. No person allowed to enter a horse unless he is a subscriber to the race fund of one guinea.
