Cairo. A mob insulted the Khedive and threw, missiles at his Ministers. Alexander Malet, has been appointed ambassador at Constantinople. Anarchy reigns in Thessaly. The military and police have come into collision. ■ -• ,•'-•>• For the Champion Cup Elliot de r feated Higgins easily. The wool sales opened mith 25,000 bales, and were largely attended by Home and Foreign buyers. Cape wool preponderated, and prices are similar to last' quotations, with inferior fleeces lower. Feb. 16. The latest Cape news is, that the force under Colonel Pearson was safely established at Ekope. There are no hostile Zulus now within the boundary •of the Colony. . Feb. 17. A Home Rule candidate was elected by a large majority for Cork, in the room of the deceased member. Lord Napier of Magdala has been summoned home from Gibraltar, and arrived in London to-day. Feb. 18. Sir Charles Dilke» has given notice in the House of Commons of a resolution condemnatory of the Zulu war. Wheat is Is higher. , .Consols, 96£ The wool sales opened with a good demand ; prices are firm. Feb. 19. The New Zealand Loan is one per cent higher. A British column was attacked by 4000 Zulus. The British victory was complete, and was attended with trifling loss. The first reinforcements have left England. | St. Petersburg, Feb. 15. The Czar has issued a manifesto ratifying the definitive Russo-Turkish treaty of peace which was signed at Constantinople on Feb. 8. The withdrawal of the Russian troops from Turkish territory has'commenced. Bombay, Feb. 21. , General Roberts' headrquartees have been transferred to Thull. The Commander-in-Chief of India has gone to Jellalabed.
