ORIGINAL POETRY.
THE FUTURE; . t ' In the future I am seeking, For a home, unknown, untold ; In the future I am searching, For a crown of purer gold.
In the past so far behind me, Nought but sorrow, nought but gloom; In the present smiling kindly, Hope is budding into bloom.
In the future I am treading, Where no foot has trod before ; And the hand of fate is spreading, O'er the unknown evermore.
Soon the dim uncertain shadows, In the digit will fade away ; And the pictured gloom before me, Open into endless day.
CAMBRIAN.
