The Melbourne New. Guinea Expedition by the Dove found ho gold. They suffered fearfully from fever, and: several died. All were sp prostrated that they had to lay the vessel to, and afterwards made for Anibora. They were attacked near Threefold Bay, but beat off the Natives. They afterwards sprang a leak, but were.-relieved by the ship Launcelot, and,landed at Yokohama. Melbourne, Jan. 23. Tenders are invited for the construction of the Melbourne Exhibition. Jan. 25. Isaac Wright, and 13, federates of the Kelly gang, have been remanded for a week at Beechworth, the police witnesses being; -absent '■-after '■ the Kellys. ■ .;.-..■.;-.. - " Sydney, Jan. 24. The Chineese Immigration Restriction Bill is being debated in the Assembly. The Canterbury cricketers, played a one innings match in Hobart Town. The Tasmanians made 87 ; Canterbury, 80.. The team were afterwards entertained. ' Jan. 25. There were 12,000 spectators at the cricket match to-day. The New South Wales Eleven in their first innings scored 240. Murdoch made 70, Thompson 50, and Massie 30. , The Englishmen had made 17, and Ulyett 7, both not out, when the stumps were drawn.
