Ejection of Two Members.
The firet election ofvtwo new members for this Board since the adoption of " The Regulation of Local Elections Act" was held at the Road Board Office, Davauchelle's Bay, yesterday at noon. Mr John Berwick, Clerk to the Board, acted as Returning Officer. At 12 o'clock, the hour of nomination, the only candidates nominated were Mr John Duxbury, (the present Chairman), by Messrs B. Shadbolt and T. S. Johnson, and Mr Coll M'Donaid, by Messrs W. Birdling and J. Duxbury.
' The number of candidates not being in excess of the number of vacancies to be filled the Returning Officer formally declared Messrs Duxbry and M'Donald duly elected. The personnel of the Board will therefore remain unaltered.

According to his evidence the fire started on defendant's land, about eight or ten chains from the boundary. It was burning on the 10th November. Claim £11 18s 3d. Defendant was sued as a member of the late firm of Hooper and Co. Judgment reserved till the 31st inst. BAYLEY V. EVERALL. Claim £5 Bs. Judgment by default for amount claimed, with costs. The Court then adjourned.
