AKAROA RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
Tuesday, Dec. 3. (Before Justin Aylmer, Esq., R.M.) CATTLE TRESPASS. A Phillips. J. Sunckell, and J. Hartley were each fined 10s and costs for an offence of this nature. ABUSIVE LANGUAGE. John Nixon was charged with using abusive and insulting language to J. D. Davis. The offence was proved by the evidence of the prosecutor and Mr H. Bridge, and defendant was fined 10s and costs, in default 24 hours' imprisonment. CIVIL CASE. M'Culloch v. Scarbrough.— Claim, £100 on a dishonored acceptance bearing the endorsement of the late Mr G. Scarbrough. In this case judgment had been reserved. The Bench now gave judgment for the defendant, on the ground that plaintiff had made a separate arrangement with the acceptor of the bill without the knowledge or concurrence of the defendant. Costs would follow tbe judgment, including £3 3s, solicitor's fee. The Court then adjourned.
