For district ..horses Heats. Nomination, 10s; acceptance, 10s. 2. SAPLING STAKES—A district race of — soys., for two-year-olds. Colts, 7st 41b ; fillies, 7st. Entrance, 10s. 3. TROTTING RACE—A handicap of — soys., for district horses ; twice across the. beach ; no weight under lOst. Nomination, ss; acceptance, 10s. 4. CONSOLATION STAKES — A handicap of — soys , for all beaten horses at the meeting. Entrance, 10s. Post entry. Nominations for Hurdle Race, Wainui Plate, Tradesmen's Handicap, and Trotting Race must be made to the Secretary in sealed covers, addressed to him at the Somerset Hotel, Head of the Bay, before 8 p.m. on Wednesday, the 11th December, accompanied with age and pedigree of horses, and past performances, colors of the riders, together with the necessary amount in cash. Weights will appear in the Akaroa Mail as soon as practicable. Entries for Maiden Plate and Sapling Stakes, and acceptances for the Handicaps will be received as above, before 8 p.m. on Saturday, December 21. RULES. Races for District Horses shall mean for all horses that liave been for not less than three months prior to the meeting within the following prescribed boundary, viz.:—The head of Lyttelton Harbor to Gebbie's Flat, and i>wued by bona fide residents of that district. All races are the length of the beach, about three-quarters of a mile. Three horses to pay up for each race, or the stakes will be withheld. The second horse saves his stakes in all races, the amount to be deducted from the stakes. No entry will be received unless both owner and nominator be subscribers to the fund of not lesltlum 20s. . Jockeys will be taxed 2s 6d, to go to the fund. All protests mutet be made in writing to the Secretary within an hour after the race, accompanied by a deposit of 20s, which will be forfeited, if the protest is considered frivoloils, the decision of the Stewards to be fiftal. —* RURAL SPORTS Will be held iiiithe intervals between the races, a for which will appear shortly. . i (J.
