CORN EXCHANGE REPORT.
The following is the report for the week ending Friday evening Nov. 22, 1878 :—
Wheat.- Transactions have been but fe, at unaltered prices since our last repor ' viz., 4s for good milling samples. OaU. —We quote best milling, 4s Id to 4a 3d ; feed, 3s 10d to 4s. Rye Grass Seed.—No enquiry, the season is too far advanced.
Potatoes.—Early in the week there were several enquiries for potatoes, and the price in consequence advanced ; but, with the prospect ot the new potatoes coming forward, a decline in value must be anticipated. Butter would meet with ready sale for really good quality. Cheese is also in demand, several enquiries having been made for this product, but there is none offering. Messrs R. Wilkin and Co. report :— Wool—Between 400 and 450 bales are now in store awaiting first sale. Sheepskins —At our sale on Thursday. 2946 skins were catalogued and sold. The attendance of buyers was limited, and bidding decidedly dull, as follows:—Butchers' cross-bred, large, full-woolled. 5s Gd, 5s 9d to 6s Id each ; ditto ditto medium, threefourths to full-woolled, 4s 10d, 5s '3d to 5a 6d each; ditto ditto ditto, two-thirds to three-fourths woolled, 4s, 4s6d to 4s 10d each ; ditto ditto ditto, half to two-thirds woolled, 3s, 3s 6d to 4s each ; ditto ditto, small and inferior, Is 10d, 2s 6d to 3s each. Butchers' merino, large, well-woolled, ss, 5s 6d to 5s Id each ; ditto ditto, medium, half to two thirds woolled, 3s 6d, 4s 3d, to 5s each ; ditto ditto, small and inferior, 2s, 2s 9d to 3s 6-i each. Country croes-breds to 5s 9d each ; country merinos to 5s 6d each. Lambskins, Is 3d and Is 4d each. Pelts 3d to Is 10J each.
Tallow—At our sale on Thursday there was a fair quantity butchers' rough fat catalogued, and the attendance of buyers was large, with spirited bidding; best clean well saved, 2§d to 2§d per lb; second qnality, 2d to 2|d per lb ; inferior and heated, l£d to 2d per lb. Cask tallow, 19s per cwt. Hides are not in request at present; the attendance of buyers was very limited, and the salfis are : Lot I—ox hides, 3d per lb ; lot 3—dry, 2d per lb ; lot 4—damaged, 2d per lb ; special line of very heavy hides, 3d per lb ; calfskins not sold.
INTERPROVINCIAL COMMERCIAL TELEGRAMS.
Auckland, Nov. 22.
Flour, £10 to £11, market overstocked ; oats, 4s 9d, market easier in consequence of large arrivals ; cheese, 7d to 7£d ; hams and bacon, cloth, 8d to B£d do, bare, 7d to 7£d ; potatoes, old nearly unsaleable ; do, new, £6 to £8. Greasy wool, 7£d to 9£d ; washed, lid to 13£ d ; beef, 30s to 355; lambs are arriving in large numbers, and are at lower value ; pigs sell freely. New Plymouth, Nov. 22.
Calves, £2 2s 6d ; yearlings, £2 2s 6d to £3 10s; 18 month steers, £3 17s 6d to £4 15s ; two year olds, £5 5s to £5 15s; store cows, £5 to £512s 6d ; good heifers, £5 15s to £6155; dairy cows, £8 to £9 ; second class hacks, £6 5s to £6 10s. Dunedin Nov. 22. Oate, 4s to 4s 3d ; flour, £10 to £10 10s; potatoes, £5 to £5 10a. , Invkrcargiix. Nov. 22. Business has been dull during the week. Prices are:—Oats, scarce, good milling, 4s 6d ; feed, 4s; flour, colonial, £10 to £10 10s; potatoes, £7 to £7 10s.
