TROM THE LYTTELTON TIMES. Christchurch, Friday Evening.

GRAIN AND PRODUCE

The week, which opened extremely quiet, lias not improved towards its close. We have nothing to record beyond the ordinary trade* enquiry. During the week we have had a continuance of the nor , -west weather, which has been prevalent for a considerable time. From all parts of the Province the farmers report the want of rain, and it is feared that unless we are favored with copious showers very shortly, the crops, more particularly the hay and oats, will suffer severely. On the Peninsula the yield of cocksfoot will be very much lighter than was expeoted, owing to unprecedented drought. Up to a fortnight ago the crop looked betterthan theaverage, butthewant of rain is beaming to tell. Wheat. —Good milling 3a »9d to 4s. Several small parcels of middling quality have been sold at 3s 8d to 3s 9a. Oals.—Values are unaltered ; 3s lid to 4s Id for good feed. Buyers are not disposed to purchase except for actual sales. Potatoes.—Stocks are now worked down •pretty close, and only small lots are occaMouily offered. The recent enquiry has nbated ; a few odd lots having been wanted tor station use, a trifle more has had to be than has lately been asked. Flour continues exceedingly dull. Quo."ir, lions remain at £9 to £10, according to

brand

Dairy Produce.—Butter is without alteration ; the demand is only moderate. We £i;ote 8d to 9d ; cheese 6d to 6£d.
