An influential deputation headed by Lord Lawrence waited upon Disraeli to recommend that Parliament be called together immediately, in view of the Affghan difficulty. Disraeli declined to receive the deputation. If war breaks out, then Parliament will meet.
[Special.] London, Nov. 18
The colonial wool sales opened this afternoon. Total bales arrived available, 170,000. The first day's catalogue fairly represented all the colonies, and comprised 7600 bales. The attendance of home and foreign buyers was large, and the competition keen. Prices show an average decline of about a penny per lb, most strongly marked in scoured.
Leeston, Young, and Co. have failed for £100,000, also Keep, Plons, and Co., India and Australia merchants.
