Marquis, imported from Victoria, bred by J. Brown, Esq,Preston Hall, Lower Plenty, by Prince Charlie (imported), and out of Mr Brown's celebrated mare Old Jean, winner of eleven First Prizes, and was never beaten. Marquis lias gained fourteen First Prizes, and four Second Prizes in Victoria , and since he was imported to Otago he has gained three First and five Second Prizes. As a three-year-old he took First Prize at the Tasmanian Pastoral Association's Show, and since that time he has taken First Prize in his class nnd against all comers at the Banks Peninsula Pastoral Association's Shows in 187G and 1877. ECLAT, by Camden, out of Prestige, by Premier (imp.); out of Shiel-na-Guira, by Rory O'More (imp.); out of Nora Creina (imp.); Camden, by Warhawk (imp.); out of Calliope, by ./Slither (imp.); out of Cassandra, by Tross (imp.); out of Alice Grey, by Emigrant (imp.): out of Gulnare (imp.) ECLAT is closely related to Dagworth, The Barb. Yattendon, and Maid of All Work ; the latter won over £2000 in stakes, and, like Eclat, is out of a Premier mare. King Phillip, by Camden, out of a daughter of Shiel-na-Guira, is nearly full brother to Eclat, and won several races in New Zealand ; and, lastly, Eclat is closely related to the celebrated horse of the day—Chester. He is a rich dark brown, standing 1G hands high, with immense bone and substance ; and for make and shape has been pronounced by the best judges as hard to beat anywhere. Terms: —£5 5s for the season per marc ; Groomage, ss, payable on first service. In every five mares, property of same owners, one will be given in. Special terms made for two or more mares, also for guarantees. YOUNG TRADUCER will Travc Tai Tapu, Little River, to Akaroa, the Bays, and Head of the Bay, Lyttelton, and will also stand one day in the week at Mr Sunckell's Stables, Akaroa.
