LE BON'S BAY BRIDLE TRACK.

Mk DuxmntY r.v Reply

To the Editor of the Akaroa Mail. Sir, —It sometimes happens that persons ever hasty in making groundless and unscrupulous assertions are likely sometimes to be checked with records of their for.ner actions in plain' Mack and white, to use a homely phrase, and though contentious persons are apt to twi.st meanings where vaguely worded to suit their ovvn purposes, therefore, to prevent being accused of such unfairness, and as this affair is getting somewhat notorious, I trust you will allow the appended copies of minutes to be published, so that the public may judge for themselves whether the random assertions of Mr Piper are true or not, and ia continually drawing, inferences from, -euch assertions, the one of course must be on a par with the other. It will be easily seen that Mr Inman did not understand- the process of stopping road?, and it is manifestly unfair for Mesars Piper and Koberts, as agents for Lyons, to-take advantage of an error in judgment in the preparation of the sale plan. It-is at %ill times unwise to enter ipto , discussion with- persons who may be totally regardless of" ths Ninth Commandment, and I am quite sensible that the stopping of the old road would !be of advantage, to me, in that the expenditure which would have to be incurred on the new one would enhance the value of property in which I havo jiii interest: yet, having been'tyifsted by the public so long, nothing'sliiill' induce me to promote my own interests to the disadvantage, not only of the ratepayers of this'district, but of the largeand rapidly increasing community settled, iijifwid firpniid'Le.Bon's Bay.
