INTERPROVINCIAL TELEGRAMS.

Wellington, Oct. 19. It is currently rumoured here that Government has made a concession by which certain parties are to have the exclusive right to a special wire for Press telegrans from. Auckland to Invercargill for a period of two years at a fixed annual payment in lieu of the present Press rates. The special wire to be at the service of the lessees from 8 p.m. to 3 a.m. Ministers decline to give any definite information, but promise to lay the papers before the House. It is understood that Ministers have agreed to raise the pay of the police from January 1 next, but it is not yet knnown to what extent.
