Two escaped convicts arrived in an open boat to-day from Noumea. Four convicts left on Sept. 4 r one died on the passage, and one bushed on Whitsunday Mands, only the two arriving. Lieut. Conner left at noon in search of the missing Frenchman, accompanied by the police. Oct. 2. The subscriptions towards the International Exhibition have reached nearly £5000. Sailed—Hero, for Auckland. The names of the French convicts who escaped from Noumea are Thibault and Lessier. The search for the third one, lost on Whitsuntide Island, was urijroccessful. ' The Assembly is dissolved 7 and the Council has prorogued to Nov. 12 ! The Agnes, schooner, Sydney to Townsville, was wrecked on the Capricorn group ; all saved.

Adelaide, Oct. 2. Mr Bees has resigned the portfolio of Education, and the proposed motion of want of confidence was, consequently, not proceeded with. Melbourne, Oct. 2. The Ringarooma arrived yesterday. Tararua sails to-day and the Alhambra to-morrow.
