AKAROA BOROUGH COUNCIL.
SPECIAL MEETING,
Wednesday, Sept. 25. Present—His Worship the Mayor, Crs Waeckerle, Sunckell, Cullen, Penlington, O'Reilly, Meech, and Annand. The object of the meeting was to take into consideration the letting of the Ashburton Reserves. The minutes of the last special meeting were read and confirmed. A letter was read from Mr C. F. Barker, offering to undertake the letting of the reserves at five per cent, on one year's rental. Proposed by Cr Meech and seconded by Cr O'Reilly, " That tracings of the reserves be sent to the office of the Ashburton Mail, and that tenders be invited in that paper, conditions to be seen at the said office." On a division there appeared Ayes— Crs O'Reilly, Meech, Cullen, and Waeckerle. Noes—Crs Sunckell, Penlington, and the Mayor. The motion waa therefore carried. Proposed by Cr o'Reilfy, : Wd Seconded by Cr Cullen, "That the Clerk write to Mr Ivess, asking him whether he would allow a tracing of the Reserves to be .left at his office forinspection."—Carried, Cr Sunckell dissenting. It was proposed by Cr O'Reilly, and seconded by Cr Sunckell—" That the Clerk write to the Clerks of the Christchurch, Lyttelton, and Kaiapoi Borough Councils, asking them to send a copy of the conditions on which their reserves are let, and asking if they have appointed any agents for this purpose, and their names." Carried, Cr Annand dissenting. Proposed by Cr Cullen, and seconded by Cr Waeckerle-—" That the Clerk write to Messrs Bullock, Barker, or any other land agent, asking them on what terms they would undertake the letting of these reserves." Carried, Cr Annand dissenting.
