London, August 2. The Reserves have all been dismissed to their homes. Cowen, amidst much laughter, presented a petition from various parts of the country, asking for the impeachment of Lord Beaconsfield for his doings in connection with the Eastern question. Cowen disclaimed all sympathy with the petition on the same day. Sir Charles Dilke moved an amendment against the proposal to grant the Duke of Connaught an additional £10,000 a year, and £6000 to his wife in case of her surviving him. Gladstone supported the motion, and the amendment was rejected by 320 to 33. Several Home Rulers bore testimony to His •Royal Highness' great popularity in Ireland. A new trial in the Bagot will case has been refused. " The Vanguard and the Grosser Kurfurst are to be raised. The New York Herald is sending the yacht Dauntless to the Polar regions. The Queen's assent to the Deceased Wife's Sister's Bill passed in Natal has been refused. A heavy ballast train dashed into an excursion train at Beccles. A hundred were severely hurt; none killed. Forty-eight soldiers belonging to the at Malta were poisoned through carbolic acid being served out instead of lime juice. No deaths. A beerhouse-keeper, at Greenwich took his three young children for a walk '"in the woods, cut,their throats, and then killed himself. A prize fight occurred near Henley, between two married women, with families. Teeth, as well as fists were freely used. A large crowd was present.
