(Per Press Agency.) Christchurch, Sept. 12. The polling to return three City Councillors took place to-day. There were f'ght candidates, viz. :—Messrs Briggs, ird, Toomer (retiring councillors), Gapes, Wilson (ex-mayors), Tremayne, Banks, and Ayers (outsiders). The excitement in town is immense. Up to five o'clock 8105 (?) ratepayers had polled. The poll closes at six o'clock. The number of nomination passages from the United Kingdom made in the Christchurch office during the month equalled 119 souls. The annual meeting of the Canterbury Rowing Club took place last night.
