So now I'll continue my wares to describe, And first on the list to catch 'em alive, Is the new patent mousetrap, that never needs baiting, And pleases the mice, for it don't keep them waiting ; Mixed biscuiis, Noah's arks, and saucepans enamel, Dutch hoes and fine pencils from hair of the camel, Swiss cigars, French fiddles, Yankee augers that travel, Jack-planes, Tomahawks, and shovels for gravel, Water monkeys, gold lockets, andeau-de-cologne, Scotch mixtures, brass cannons, shirt studs, pearl and bone, Plumbobs, oyster knives, and cherry wood pipes, Dog whistles, cow bells, with string to fly kites, Jam jars, tissue paper, soft solder, clothes pegs, Bird cages, stone lime, graters for nutmegs, Tin whistles, note-paper, meat stands with three legs, Wire skewers, and grindstones, new beaters for eggs, Tool baskets, prize books, and tackle for fishing, Iron bedsteads, and fenders for parlor and kitchen, Tin pannikins, vases, bottle blacking, and cakes, Shaving brushes, good scissors, with gridirons for steaks. So now once again I will bid you adieu, Tho' my paper is full, I'm not half-way through ; As a parting salute, I'll add one other scrap, I'm off to the Council to have a short nap. AKAROA BOROUGH COUNCIL ELECTION NOTICE. IN pursuance of " The Regulation of Local Elections Act, 1876," clause 14, I hereby give public notice, that the following candidates have been duly NOMINATED, as required by the said Act, as Councillors for the Borough of Akaroa, in room of the present Oouncil, who retire in terms of the "Municipal Corporations Act," clause 67, viz :— Cyprian W. Henry Henning The above number of candidates being in excess of the number of offices to be filled, I hereby give notice that a, POLL will be taken at the offices of the Akaroa Borough Council, Balguerie street, Akaroa, for the election of THREE of the above Burgesses to serve as Councillors of the said 3orough, on THURSDAY, the 12th day of September, 1878.
