Sir, —Surely it is not right that fair criticism may not be bestowed on matters of public interest'without being repaid by indiscriminate vilification. If there is any question as to the arrangement of our public gardens, the columns of your admirable paper are surely the place best suited for its ventilation.—l am, yours, &c, ENQUIRER. Sir, —Permit me to t.ike up the cudgels on behalf of your correspondent " Q.," aud against his antagonist, whose remarks would be rude if they were only couched in intelligible language. No one with a grain of sense, or with the smallest idea of the picturesque, can help uniting with <; Q." in his condemnation of the atrocities which have been perpetrated in our domain; and it is hardly fair that taste and discrimination should meet with no better return than ungrammatical abuse.
